Drip Tray for Under Kitchen Sink

A drip tray for under a kitchen sink is a shallow tray or a mat with a raised lip that sits on the cabinet floor and catches drips from the trap, the supply lines and the bottles above. Two kinds are on offer. Rigid plastic trays come in small sizes you can fit around pipes, and silicone mats come in cabinet-size sheets you trim with scissors. The five listings below cover both. The choice depends on your cabinet width, how much floor the pipes leave free, and how tall a lip you want around the edge.
Quick answer
For a standard 36 in wide cabinet, a silicone mat is the simplest fit. The Original Under Sink Mat is 34 in wide by 22 1/2 in deep in its bullet and trims to 28 in or 30 3/4 in wide. The Gorilla Grip lists a 0.7 in lip, and the Ruinovate lists a 1.8 cm lip with a 3 mm wall. For a cabinet with a lot of plumbing, the plastic trays are easier to place around pipes: the iDesign pair is 17 x 13 x 2 in each, and the three-piece set is 13.8 x 10.8 in each and locks together with a buckle. A tray catches a drip; it does not fix the leak.
What the person typing “drip tray for under kitchen sink” wants
The reader wants a surface under the sink that holds water until they notice it. They need to know the size, the height of the edge, whether it can be cut or joined to fit around pipes, and whether it can be lifted out to be emptied or washed. They do not need a health claim, and this guide makes none about materials. Some of the listings make material claims of their own, which we note below and did not check.
How we chose
We searched Amazon for “drip tray for under kitchen sink” and opened five listings, each once, on 2026-10-18. The results were mostly 34 x 22 in silicone mats, with a few plastic trays. We kept the two plastic trays that are sold as under-sink trays, and three silicone mats from different sellers that state a lip height or a trim size. We left out the many near-identical 34 x 22 in mats that list no lip height, and sink-side caddies and faucet drip catchers, which sit on the counter. Specs come only from the five listings. Where a title and a bullet differ, we show both. We did not read customer reviews as a source for specs.

How to measure the cabinet floor
Open the doors and measure the inside width between the side walls, at the floor. Then measure the depth from the front frame to the back wall. Check for a raised lip at the front of the cabinet floor; a mat that sits behind that lip needs to be a little shorter than the full depth. Mark where the drain, the supply lines and any disposal sit. If you plan to cut a mat, trace the cut on paper first. Leave about 0.5 in at each side so the mat lies flat and does not ride up the wall.
Checking a 30 in wide cabinet
Take a cabinet with 30 in of inside width, 21 in of depth, and a drain pipe 6 in from the left wall.
- The Original, trimmed: 30 3/4 in is wider than 30 in, so trim to 28 in wide. That leaves 2 in spare across, 1 in each side. Trim depth to 20 3/4 in, which leaves 0.25 in in front of the back wall. Tight, but it can be cut around the pipe.
- Gorilla Grip and Ruinovate, 34 x 22 in: both are larger than the cabinet, so each needs trimming by 4 in in width and 1 in in depth. The Ruinovate listing says it can be trimmed, and the Gorilla Grip listing does not describe trimming.
- iDesign, 17 x 13 in each: one tray set lengthwise takes 17 in; the second, turned sideways, takes 13 in. The two together cover 17 + 13 = 30 in of width, with no gap. Two trays 13 in deep leave 8 in of depth uncovered.
- Three-piece set, 13.8 x 10.8 in: two joined along their 13.8 in sides make 27.6 in wide, leaving 2.4 in spare across. They cover 10.8 in of depth.
Coverage check, using the listing sizes: a 34 x 22 in mat covers 748 sq in. The iDesign pair covers 2 x 17 x 13 = 442 sq in. The three-piece set covers 3 x 13.8 x 10.8, about 447 sq in. Volume check for a flat 34 x 22 in mat with a 0.7 in lip: 748 x 0.7 is about 523 cubic inches, or about 2.3 gallons, before accounting for the corners and the slope of the walls. This is an upper bound from arithmetic, not a capacity stated by any seller. The Original lists 1.5 gallons.
Mistakes to avoid
- Ordering a 34 in mat for a 30 in cabinet without a plan to trim it.
- Cutting before tracing the pipes on paper.
- Letting the tray fill without looking. A tray catches a drip; check it often, and fix the leak.
- Putting a mat over a raised front lip where it will not lie flat.
- Believing a heat or material claim without reading the label. We did not check the BPA-free and heat-range claims in these listings.
Who should skip a drip tray
Skip a rigid tray if your cabinet has a garbage disposal and little free floor. The disposal body and its plumbing can leave no space for a 17 in tray. Skip a silicone mat if you prefer to lift a tray out whole, since a trimmed mat flexes when you carry water. If you already have a slide-out organizer on the cabinet floor, a mat under it may suit you better than a tray.
