Kitchen Counter Shelf Guide: Stated Specs Compared
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
A kitchen counter shelf is a small raised rack or tier that sits on the countertop to add room for spices, mugs, cans or a microwave. This guide compares three countertop kitchen shelves by the figures their Amazon listings state. Only one of the three states a weight limit, and none states anti-tip hardware. Check the stated width and depth against your counter before you decide.
Quick answer
- For a two-tier counter organizer with a stated size in two variants, the RUILALIFE listing gives its Medium and Large dimensions, but it does not state a weight limit.
- For a countertop microwave stand with a stated weight limit, the DOLALIKE listing says 55 lbs per tier and 110 lbs total.
- For a stackable pair of small counter racks, the Amazon Basics listing gives the size of each rack, and it does not state a weight limit.
- None of the three listings states anti-tip hardware. Treat a tall or top-heavy countertop unit as something to set on a stable, level surface.
Where a counter shelf fits
A counter shelf works best when the item you store is light and the counter has room to spare. The listings here describe spices, dishes, coffee cups and small cans. A microwave is the heaviest load this set describes, and its listing is the only one that states a weight figure. Before you buy, measure the counter depth you need, the height of the backsplash or wall behind it, and the clearance above the shelf for the items you plan to stack.
A countertop shelf also sits in the path of your hands. Keep the front edge within easy reach, and avoid placing it where a cabinet door or appliance door swings into it. The listings give depth and width, which is what you need for that check. They do not give a clearance figure, so measure the gap yourself.
Comparison table
The table uses only the columns that at least one listing states. “not stated” means the listing does not give that figure.
| Listing (ASIN) | Type | Dimensions (as the listing states) | Tiers or shelves | Weight capacity | Material |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon Basics stackable metal kitchen organizer, set of 2 (B07XM8Y26Y) | Stackable counter or cabinet rack, white | 8 D x 12.5 W x 4.5 H in; set of 2 | tiered (not stated) | not stated | steel wire coated in plastic (spec table also says plastic) |
| RUILALIFE 2-tier kitchen counter shelf organizer, Medium (B0CT8M6C4P) | 2-tier countertop organizer, rustic brown | 7.6 D x 13.1 W x 13.7 H in (Medium, table); bullet gives 13.2 L x 7.6 W x 13.7 H in | 2 | not stated | engineered wood with metal frame |
| DOLALIKE expandable microwave oven rack (B09WQPSHRJ) | Countertop microwave stand with hanging shelf | 12.6 D x 15.7 W x 16 H in; length adjusts 16.17 to 24.67 in | 2 | 55 lbs per tier; 110 lbs total | carbon steel |
Product notes
Amazon Basics Space-Saving Stackable Metal Kitchen Cabinet Organizer Shelves, set of 2
The listing says it is a set of two wire racks for dishes, coffee cups, small cans, seasonings and medicines. The racks stack, and the listing says you can use them side by side or stacked. It gives 8 inches deep, 12.5 inches wide and 4.5 inches tall, and it says the assembly is tool-free. The listing describes the steel as coated in plastic to protect delicate items. It does not state a weight capacity, and it does not state anti-tip hardware. View on Amazon
RUILALIFE 2-Tier Kitchen Counter Shelf Organizer, Medium
The listing says it is a two-tier organizer for a counter, a bar station or a desk. It says the frame is metal, the board is thick, and an X-shaped design on the sides adds stability. A back rail lets the unit stand without touching a wall, which the listing presents as a stability feature. The table gives 7.6 inches deep, 13.1 inches wide and 13.7 inches tall for the Medium size, and a bullet gives 13.2 inches long, 7.6 inches wide and 13.7 inches high. The Large size is listed, but the size bullet is cut off in the capture we recorded, so we do not give its figures. The listing does not state a weight capacity. View on Amazon
DOLALIKE Expandable Microwave Oven Rack
This is a countertop stand that holds a microwave with a hanging shelf above it. The listing says the length adjusts from 16.17 to 24.67 inches, and it warns against expanding past 24.67 inches to keep the stand stable. It states 55 pounds per tier and 110 pounds total, in carbon steel. It has three hooks. The listing gives 12.6 inches deep, 15.7 inches wide and 16 inches tall. It does not state anti-tip hardware, and the expansion limit is the only stability note it gives. View on Amazon
What the figures do and do not say
Only the DOLALIKE listing states a weight figure, and it states one per tier and one total. The listing states both as limits, and the two numbers do not add together. The listing does not say how a load is split between tiers, so check the weight of your appliance against the per-tier figure before you load a tier.
The two listings that describe a counter organizer do not give a weight figure at all. That leaves you to judge the load by the size of the unit and the material. Use these units for light goods, such as spice jars and mugs, and do not place a heavy small appliance on them unless the listing states that it can carry one.
Where the listings disagree
For the RUILALIFE listing, the Medium size is given two ways: a table of 7.6 inches deep, 13.1 inches wide and 13.7 inches tall, and a bullet of 13.2 inches long, 7.6 inches wide and 13.7 inches high. The two agree on height and depth, and they differ on the length figure by 0.1 inch, so measure the length you need before you order. The Amazon Basics listing gives 8 inches deep and 12.5 inches wide in its table, and its title gives the same figures, so no conflict appears there.
Anti-tip and stability
No anti-tip hardware appears in any of the three listings. The DOLALIKE stand is the only one with a stated stability rule, which is the expansion limit. A tall or top-heavy countertop unit can still tip if it is loaded high, so put heavy items on the lower tier and keep the upper shelf for light goods. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s February 5, 2026 news release (No. 26-259) advises anchoring furniture, including bookcases and dressers, to the wall to prevent tip-overs, and it points readers to anchorit.gov. We opened that release on 2026-10-28. That advice is written for furniture, not countertop accessories, so use it as a reason to check stability, not as a rule for these units.
How we chose
We used only the figures in the research file for this keyword, read on 2026-10-28. We kept a listing when it is a countertop shelf, a counter organizer or a countertop rack. We considered eight listings in total. Five were read in full and three appeared in search results without being opened. We left out five: B0D3ZZGD7Q, a floor-standing three-shelf wire unit, which is not a counter shelf; B0DLB39YG4, an expandable shelf that installs inside a cabinet; and three pull-out organizers, B0D16YB4K6, B0FDGBRBLX and B0GQF915RX, which were not opened in full and are not countertop shelves. The three we kept are in the table. We did not rank them.
What we could not verify
- A weight capacity for the Amazon Basics set and the RUILALIFE organizer. Neither listing states one.
- The Large size of the RUILALIFE organizer. Its size bullet is cut off in the capture.
- Anti-tip hardware for any of the three. None of the listings states it.
- Whether any listing is safe for use with a hot appliance. The listings do not discuss heat, so we make no claim about it.
Buying checklist
- Measure the counter depth and the backsplash height, then compare them to the stated depth and height.
- If you plan to store a microwave, find the per-tier figure in the listing and compare it to the appliance weight.
- Check whether the listing states a length or only a depth and width, because the RUILALIFE listing gives its length two ways.
- For a stackable rack, confirm the listing states how many units come in the set.
- Plan to load the heavier items on the lower tier.
Mistakes to avoid
- Assuming a counter organizer carries a microwave. Only the DOLALIKE listing states a weight figure, and it is for a stand, not a small counter rack.
- Adding per-tier and total figures together. The DOLALIKE listing gives 55 pounds per tier and 110 pounds total, which are two limits, not a sum.
- Expanding the DOLALIKE stand past its stated length. The listing says 24.67 inches is the limit for stability.
- Choosing by the Large size of the RUILALIFE organizer. The listing gives no complete figures for that size in the capture we recorded.

FAQ
Does any of these counter shelves state a weight limit?
Only the DOLALIKE microwave stand does. It states 55 pounds per tier and 110 pounds total. The Amazon Basics set and the RUILALIFE organizer do not state a weight figure in the listing text we recorded.
Can a countertop shelf hold a microwave?
The DOLALIKE listing is written for a microwave, and it gives per-tier and total limits. Check the appliance weight against the per-tier figure. The other two listings are not written for a microwave, and they state no weight figure.
Are the sizes of the RUILALIFE organizer consistent?
The depth and height agree between the table and the bullet. The length is given as 13.1 inches in the table and 13.2 inches in the bullet. The Large size is cut off in the capture we recorded.
Does the Amazon Basics set stack?
The listing says the racks stack and can be used side by side or stacked. It does not state a maximum stack height or a weight limit for the stack.
Do any of these shelves state anti-tip hardware?
No. Anti-tip hardware is not in any of the three listings. The DOLALIKE listing gives an expansion limit for stability, and the RUILALIFE listing mentions a back rail as a stability feature.
Which of these is the best choice for a small counter?
The listings do not rank them for a small counter. Measure the counter depth, choose the unit whose stated depth fits, and use the stated weight figure only where the listing gives one.
Bottom line
Measure your counter first, then match the unit to the one weight figure the listings actually state, and keep heavy items on the lowest tier.
